Maine Tree Growers is a small company that grows and sells balled and burlapped  trees for the landscaping market in Maine. We have traditionally grown conifers, but have recently experimented with a limited number of hardwoods.

For the coming spring of 2016, our conifer inventory includes the following:

  • White Spruc: 4’ to 7’
  • White Pine: 4’ to 5’
  • Blue Spruce: 4’ to 6’
  • Jack Pine: 4’ to 5’
  • Hemlock: 4’ to 6’
  • Austrian Pine: 5’ to 7’
  • Balsam Fir: 4’ to 8’

These are nice trees grown in central Maine that will be dug in the spring. Since we don’t keep trees above ground during the summer, you would have to order for spring delivery. If you have any questions or would like pricing information, you can call me at 568-3637 or contact us through our website at You will realize the greatest savings if you can pick up the trees at the nursery in Thorndike, however we can deliver larger orders at additional cost.

We also have a limited supply of the following hardwoods:

  • 10 Valley Forge American Elms, 2” calipe r– The most disease resistant.
  • 10 Princeton American Elms, 1 ¾” to 2” – Disease resistant, nice vase shape.
  • 10 Red Sunset Red Maples, 1 ¾” to 2” – Uniformly red fall foliage
  • 10 River Birch, 9’ to 10’ – Two and three-stemmed. Nice trees.
  • 5 Donald Wyman Crabapples, 2” – Pink flowers, shiny green leaves.
  • 4 European Beech, 1 ½” – Like American beech, but without bark disease.
  • 9 Bur Oaks, 1 ½” to 2” – Native to Maine, especially Sebasticook river area.
  • 5 Swamp White Oaks, 1 ½” to 1 ¾” – Native, hardy, adaptable tree.

These trees are available balled and burlapped, except the bur oak and European beech which I grew in in-ground grow bags because they can be hard to move. All hardwoods range in price between $100 and $125 apiece, picked up at the nursery. Depending on quantity, delivery can be arranged at additional cost. I look forward to hearing from you.
